Nova Scotia has modified its surveillance reporting to reflect the Public Health Agency of Canada’s case definition change of referring to risk areas for acquiring Lyme disease rather than endemic areas. For clinicians, a new risk areas map is intended to be used in conjunction with the Infectious Disease Expert Group’s statement for managing Lyme disease in Nova Scotia to assist in decisions regarding the diagnosis and treatment of individuals with tick bites or with symptoms suggestive of Lyme disease.
